WHAT IS INCLUDED?
All bike tours include a bike and helmet at no extra charge. Additional accessories are also included depending on weather.
All rentals include helmets as well as lights if renting overnight. U-Locks are included for most of our rentals. Additional accessories such as clipless pedals and handlebar phone mounts are available for a small fee.
HOW LONG ARE THE TOURS?
Please refer to our Tour Page. We also offer custom length tours upon request.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP MY GUIDE?
We get this question a lot. While tipping is entirely at your discretion, industry standard recommends $10 per guest for a stellar tour.
For Private Tours and large groups of 8+, we charge 15% as an auto-gratuity. Of course, feel free to tip your guide more if they did an excellent job at managing your group!
DO YOU CANCEL TOURS IF IT RAINS?
As it is Portland, we love taking tours out rain or shine, unless it is really nasty or icy (Oregon Athletic Field standards). We provide “Portland Approved” loaner rain pants and jackets for free. We also provide bikes that are equipped with full fenders. For more info refer to the policies on our Tour Page.

WHERE DO YOU RIDE?
Our Essential Portland bike tour covers four of Portland’s quadrants utilizing the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade to make our way to the inner SE neighborhoods. Pedal back over the river on the Tilikum Crossing, check out Portland State University and the Pearl district before returning to our shop located in Old Town. Our Foodie Fieldtrip visits the Kerns and Sunnyside neighborhoods, meandering through beautiful Ladd’s Addition and the inner SE neighborhoods before passing by the Tilikum Crossing and returning to the shop. Our Brews Cruise follows a variety of routes focused in semi-inner NE and SE, and occasionally North Portland (Guides pick based on group beer preferences for best fit). Our Forest Park tour immerses participants in the splendor of the Pacific Northwest ecosystem in America’s largest urban forest. Leave cars behind and join Portland’s only guided gravel bike tour! Beginners on e-bikes and gravel riders on our carbon gravel bikes will both benefit from the region’s diverse terrain.
DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE TOURS?
Yes! We offer private tour departures for any of our 4 tour offerings. This ensures that your guide will be attentive specifically to you/your group’s needs. Please note that there is a minimum $400 charge to secure your own private guided Essential Portland bike tour. We also offer custom guided tours with expanded bike offerings if there is somewhere specific you’d like to explore in Portland. WHEN DO I NEED TO RETURN MY BIKE/RENTAL BY?
Rentals must be returned between our business hours of 10AM-6PM. If you miss this window, please plan to keep your equipment overnight in a secure location (inside a domicile – facility provided bike parking is NOT a safe locking location) and return next business day. Please call us to ensure that your bicycle is available to be extended and we will do what we can to rollover to our next applicable rental rate. Note that this may not be an option if your bicycle is reserved for another guest.
DO YOU RENT BIKES?

DO YOU FIX BIKES?
Yes! We are a full service bike shop and offer same-day turnaround for most small repairs.
DO YOU SELL BIKES?
Yes! We sell our used bikes after we have used them for more than a year. This can be a great way to score a deal on a professionally maintained bike. We often sell them very cheap to make room for our new fleet. Please call us to ask about available bikes.
CAN I KEEP MY BIKE AFTER THE TOUR?
Yes, make sure to select this option upon booking (or ask your guide upon arrival!) This option is only available if your tour bike is not already reserved for another activity.
CAN I TAKE MY KID(S) ON ONE OF YOUR TOURS?
Certainly!
Age Limit: 10 and Older (Younger children may be accommodated on private tours)
Height Limit: 4’6″ and taller
We have limited stock of children’s bicycles, as well as bicycles that easily accommodate riders down to heights of 4’11”. We do not allow use of our trailer on tours due to safety factors involved with group riding in an urban environment, however we are always more than happy to rent, and give expert route advice for those looking to ride with a trailer attached.
CAN I RENT AN E-BIKE FOR ONE OF YOUR TOURS?
Yes, on a “same day, as-available, first come first serve” basis. This option is only available if an E-bike in your size is not already reserved for another activity.
CAN I BRING MY OWN BIKE OR ONE I HAVE ALREADY RENTED ON A TOUR?
Yes, you get a $5 discount for bringing your own bike or a $10 discount one you have already rented! Please indicate this in your booking notes and we will refund your excursion after checking to make sure your bike will work for our tour.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
180 NW 3rd Ave. Portland Oregon, 97209 on the corner of NW 3rd and Davis. We are located across the street from Portland Chinatown Museum and the Society Hotel, and next door to Old Town Pizza. The shop is a 3-minute walk from Voodoo Doughnuts and the Downtown Waterfront.
HOW FIT DO I HAVE TO BE TO PARTICIPATE IN A TOUR?
Tours are easy-paced and geared to the slowest rider so no one gets left behind. Participants should have some cardiovascular stamina and be able to exercise a moderate amount. If you are concerned about your ability to participate please contact us prior to booking. All three of our tours are considered beginner level.
IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT ON THE BICYCLES?
Yes, in order to ensure that your rental or tour is safe our bikes are rated by the manufacturer to the following limits:
- Singlespeed: 220 pounds
- Road Bikes: 250 pounds
- E-Bike: 280 pounds
- Multispeed Hybrid: 280 pounds
CAN I ALSO RENT A BIKE RACK FOR RENTAL CAR?
Yes. We have bike racks that go on the back of a sedan style car (must have trunk lid) that holds up to three bikes. We also have a two types of hitch mount racks, which work with the larger 2″ tow hitch.
DO YOU HAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES/CARDS?
Yes! Please visit our Gift Packages page to purchase, or if you do not find what you are looking for, send us an email! Gift Certificates can be used for tours, rentals, or bike service/accessories.
DO YOU HAVE TANDEMS?
Yes, we have one high end Cannondale Road tandem for rent. The size is Large/Small for Captain/Stoker.
DO YOU HAVE TRAILERS?
Yes, we have child trailers ( 1-child or 2-child options, 40 lb per child weight limit), as well as a pet-trailer (75 lb weight limit). Our trailers may only be attached to our Multi-Speed hybrids, Flat Bar Road Bikes, and Electric Bikes (No Single Speed or Road Bike attachment). If renting for your own bicycle, you will need a vertical dropout on the rear wheel as horizontal dropouts are not compatible.
DO YOU HAVE KIDS BIKES OR TAG-ALONGS?
We have two trail-a-bike’s available. Our tag-alongs may only be attached to our Multi-Speed hybrids or Flat Bar Road Bikes (No Single Speed, E-Bike, or Road Bike attachment). We cannot install tag-alongs on personal bikes.
DO YOU PROVIDE PICKUP/DROP-OFF SERVICE?
We occasionally have staff to offer bicycle drop-off and pick-up service in the Portland metro area (and beyond); call us with your request and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I SCHEDULE A TOUR?
For larger parties, two weeks in advance is recommended, although we remain flexible and can usually get something together on short notice. Summertime is very busy, and we strongly encourage that you reserve your tour or rental to guarantee availability. We occasionally have cancellations, or availabilities on a same day basis, so please call if you missed our online booking cutoff and are still interested in a tour or rental!
DO YOU HAVE LARGE GROUP DISCOUNTS FOR RENTALS OR TOURS?
Yes! We offer a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more. Note that for guided tours, we bill gratuity automatically for your tour guide when creating your booking in order to create a fair environment for our staff. Note that private tours, reservations of 8+ rentals, and tour groups of 8+ participants come with a 14-day cancellation policy, rather than our standard 24-hr cancellation policy.
